Artist Biography: 

MANUEL ANTONIO MORÁN (Puerto Rico) is an actor, singer, puppeteer, playwright and composer, as well as a producer, and theater and film director. He holds a BA in Humanities and Drama (University of Puerto Rico); a Master’s Degree in Musical & Educational Theater, and a Ph.D. in Theater Education (NYU). He is the Founder & Artistic Director of Teatro SEA in NYC, the only Latino Children’s Theater in the USA (www.teatrosea.org). His theater and literary work have been published in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the United States, in addition to performing his shows around the world. His award-winning documentary film, “Puppetry in the Hispanic Caribbean,” continues to enjoy successful reception in several film and puppet theater festivals around the world. He has received numerous awards from Latin Association of Critics (ACE), the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), the “Citation of Excellence in Puppetry,” from UNIMA-USA, among others. He is the founder & Producer of the International Puppet Fringe Festival in NYC (www.puppetfringenyc.com). Dr. Morán is the proud father of Manuel Gabriel. JOSÉ A. LÓPEZ ALEMÁN (Illustrator) was born in Puerto Rico, and he is a stage designer, animator, sculptor, puppeteer and puppet designer with more than 40 years of experience in theater, film and television. He graduated from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico, and has created the puppets of various famous characters in Puerto Rican television, among them La Comay and Burbujita. He has been recognized by the Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos of New York (ACE), the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), and the Independent Theater Artists of New York City (ATI). He is a two-time winner of the prestigious award ‘UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence’, bestowed by the American chapter of Union Internationale de la Marionnette. López was Puppet Master and Resident Designer in Teatro SEA for 30 years.

Manuel Calzada (Puerto Rico) is a composer, conductor, music producer, arranger, percussionist and educator. Holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from UCLA. His concert music has been performed by symphonic orchestras, chamber ensembles and soloists through North America, Latin America and Europe. In addition to producing music for many recording artists, he has also composed, arranged, conducted and performed music for films, TV commercials and theater. He has been honored to receive awards and nominations from the Latin Association of Critics, the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors as well as been nominated for an EMMY for his participation in a Fox Sports TV Commercial. Manuel Calzada is also part of the faculty at California State University, he has residences in Los Angeles and in Puerto Rico.

Jeannie Sol is a Singer, Actor, Comedian from Sunset Park Brooklyn.

Her dreams of becoming a performer started in her room where she made Puppets out of socks. Her career has expanded for 32 years. Her break started in the nightclubs and restaurants in the Tri-state area of NYC. It led her to be discovered in the high-class Champagne Bar by FANIA owner Jerry Massucci. Her first recording started with composer Lino Iglesias. Which catapulted her career into her own full length album Yannet Sol . She has traveled the world with legends such as: Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, Rubén Blades and Nicky Marrero to name a few. In 2000 she won the covenant crown Miss Informissima in Torino, Italy in the midst of 30 women. Jeannie Sol has won 5 ACE, 8 HOLA, 2 LGBTQ Advocate of the Year awards.

She stretched her talents into making two movies with Richard Pryor Jr. College Debt and a Horror Flick Peppers Grove. Her accomplishments did not stop there, she is a proud member of Teatro SEA Children’s Theater. She puts on her stewardess uniform proudly and boards “El Avion” to take her to her next adventure to bring and continue to bring People children the magic of theater.

Doña Aurora: Ana Campos

Ana Campos is from Lima, Perú. She has been a singer, actress and puppeteer for over 25 years. Her stage credits include award winning musicals with the Society of the Educational Arts (Teatro SEA): Rafael Hernandez…Romance, A 3 Voces, The Toothache of King Farfán, The Crazy Adventures of Don Quixote, The Legends of the Enchanted Treasure, The Three Little Pigs, Martina The Little Roach, and Sueño among others.

She founded CantaEspañol in 2013, a musical program that introduces Spanish to children through songs, play instruments, dance and puppetry.

The most beautiful part of theater for me is making children happy. In this new production, The Airplane (El Avión), you are invited on a trip to the sky filled with love, adventures, and discovery with my character, Doña Aurora. To my little airplane crew, fasten your seatbelts, and get ready to fly and fly!


 

Sammy, Flight Attendant: Samuel Gárnica

Venezuelan Actor, Singer and VO. His first acting studies were at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), where he graduated as a Social Communicator mention Audiovisual Arts.

In NYC, some credits collected are “El Laurel de Apolo” and “La Canción” (Repertorio Español), “The Tempest (R.Evolucion Latina) Matilda – The Musical (Salgado Productions) Love and Yogurt (Theater Barn) “The Dropout” “Superhero Roberto Clemente” and “La Cucarachita Martina” (Teatro SEA), among others.

Winner of the ATI award 2017 as best supporting actor for his work on “Así que pasen 5 años”, Best Actor at the Fuerza Fest 2019 for “La llamada de Lauren”, Recently HOLA Award for his work in “Delicadas”.

Radio and TV’s ads voice for brands such as Papa John’s, Publix, Pepsi, Nivea Men, Corona, among others. He is currently continuing his acting studies at the Acting Studio of the prestigious actor and director Paul Calderon and Musical studies with the program “Dare to Go Beyond” with R.Evolucion Latina.

Artist Biography: Jeffrey Hernandez was the Lead Singer of Salsa Ray and La Nueva Crema, a Salsa Band from the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT) from 2008 to 2012. Nominations: Latin Critics ACE Awards: “Actor Impacto 2010, The Kiss of The Spider Woman,” Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. Helen Hayes Awards: “Best Esemble 2012,” Puerto Rico Fua! Gala Theater. Mortales Awards: Best Actor 2015. He studied acting for film at The New York Film Academy and theatrical acting at the Raul Julia Training Unit of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. He has a Music B.S. from City University of New York. Among his multifaceted skills he is a Licensed Hairstylist and a Certified Pharmacy Technician. He currently works as a For-Hire Driver in the city of New York.
